“I will go,” she said.
Genesis 24:58
Have you ever felt God nudging you toward something new, but you didn’t have all the details? Maybe it was a subtle shift in your heart or an open door that seemed uncertain. Rebekah found herself at one of those crossroads. She could stay in the life she knew—or she could step into the unknown, trusting that God was already at work.
What’s striking about Rebekah’s story isn’t just her courage—it’s her confidence in God. When her family asked if she was willing to leave everything behind and go with Abraham’s servant, she didn’t hesitate. She didn’t need to weigh all the pros and cons. She simply said, “I will go.”
That kind of faith is both beautiful and challenging. It echoes the stories of Abraham, who left his homeland without knowing the destination, and of the disciples, who dropped everything to follow Jesus. It’s a pattern we see over and over in Scripture: God invites, and we respond in faith—sometimes with trembling, but always with trust.
Rebekah didn’t need a roadmap because she trusted the One who was leading. She didn’t need all the answers because she knew God already had them. And that’s the same invitation God extends to us. When He calls us forward, it’s not our job to figure everything out—it’s our job to follow.
Of course, that’s easier said than done. We often want clarity before we commit. We want the five-year plan and the safety net. But God rarely works that way. More often, He gives us just enough light to take the next step—and He asks us to trust Him with the rest.
When Rebekah stepped into obedience, it wasn’t just about her future—it was about God’s bigger plan. Her yes became part of the story that would eventually lead to the birth of a nation, and ultimately, to the birth of Christ.
That’s the thing about obedience—it rarely feels world-changing in the moment. But it always opens the door for God to work.
The ending of Genesis 24 shows the beauty of God’s perfect timing. Isaac wasn’t out searching for a wife. He was simply walking in obedience, and God brought Rebekah to him. In the middle of his grief after losing his mother, God provided exactly what he needed—even before he knew he needed it.
God still works that way. He prepares the way before us, guiding us gently into His plan. But we have to be willing to walk it out, even when we can’t see the whole picture.
So what about you? Are you waiting for clarity before you move? Are you hesitating to obey because the unknown feels uncomfortable?
Maybe today’s the day you simply say, “I will go.” You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to trust the One who does.
Father God, thank You for being trustworthy. Help us say yes to You even when we don’t have all the answers. Strengthen our faith to move when You call, knowing that You are already preparing the way. We surrender our plans to You and trust that Yours are always better. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
