This week on the podcast, we are talking about the concept of “binding and loosing.” If you aren’t familiar, it’s essentially what we forbid and what we permit… in our lives… in our families… in our homes. We talk about taking spiritual authority over the enemy, so I wanted to create a resource for you in case this was a new concept for you.
The process of taking spiritual authority over your house can feel intimidating and even a little scary at first, especially if it’s your first time. Let me encourage you that you are not doing this alone, but that you are walking in the authority of Christ. Remember, Jesus said in Matthew 16:19:
And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.
When we feel like we are up against something dark, most of the time we are. But we don’t have to let it stay that way. Fear is not from the Lord, so even feeling that fear in the first place is something that the enemy is using to keep you from thinking you have spiritual authority.
In fact, Jesus gives us the authority as a believer to free our lives and our homes from the things the enemy tries to use to keep us bound. Taking authority and kicking anything evil out of your home is called “rebuking,” and it’s a practice we see in the Scriptures. Here is a list if you would like to look some up:

I always suggest using common household olive oil to anoint your home. But let me remind you, the power isn’t in the oil. It’s in the Holy Spirit. The oil is just a point of contact that we use in order to pray over the house and property. Why olive oil? Olive oil is used as a symbol for the Holy Spirit throughout the Bible. It’s the oil the priests would use in the temple. Once something was anointed with oil, it was set apart as Holy or blessed. The oil often represented the presence of the Holy Spirit, so we use it to “set apart” our homes spiritually.
Anoint the front door and pray that all who enter your home will “go out in joy and be led forth in peace. Isaiah 55:12
Before starting the cleansing your home, it’s best to start with your heart, asking the Lord to search you for any areas in your life that you have allowed the enemy access or authority. If the Lord reveals something, confess it and ask for forgiveness. Inviting God into that space is the first step.
Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! Psalms 139:23-24
Once your heart is clear, it’s time to encourage your spirit:
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:11
We see an example of cleansing the home when Jesus Himself cleansed the temple. It angered Him to see the sin and evil taking place in the temple, and He took authority over what was happening. He gives us that same right. When you take authority over the spiritual climate in your home, you are taking away any permission those evil spirits had to dwell in that space.
I always suggest the entrance door to the home as a place to start. Anointing the door frame with a small amount of oil, verbally command out loud that any unclean spirit must leave. You are not asking, you are commanding. You could say something to the effect of:
In the name of Jesus, I bind any unclean spirit in this home right now and command them to flee. Every spirit that is not of God must leave. Nothing evil or unclean can enter this place.
Just as the Holy Spirit dwells in our hearts as believers, we can ask Him to dwell in our homes.
Again, verbally and out loud, ask the Holy Spirit to fill your home. You could say something to the effect of:
Right now I ask that the Holy Spirit fill this place, causing any unclean thing to flee. Jesus, I invite your presence to dwell here, that you would send your angels to protect my family and my home, stopping any unclean thing from entering.
Then repeat the process with every door and window. Ideally, walk the property line and say the same prayer, anointing various trees or perimeter markers.

I want to share my story with you. I don’t know where to start except from the beginning. My son was being defiant, rebellious and out of control he is 15. He use me and my husband against each other so he can get whatever he wanted that caused us to fight. My husband is a lazy father he doesn’t hardly do anything with our son. He sit behind a computer all-day long morning to night, it is Jon and his outlet. Xbox has become a bleeding festering sore in my side. I have caught against it ever since my husband brought it. My son was always on it from the time he got out of school to the time he to bed.. here is where the story get interesting, this fight went on and on for two days it. Got to the point we were talking divorce. I went to my sons room as he open the door I looked in my sons eyes and he was not my son, you hear of a demon taking over a person and the eyes are black. That was my son his eyes were black as night. I was scared at that point. I heard of people walking through their house saying I rebuke you satin but I never really thought it worked. I am Christain but never really had cause to do this but I was desperate. After looking into my sons eyes that evening it scares me. I got up the next morning and I got my Bible set down and got on the internet to see how to rebuke satin and give it a try and lean on God for spirit support what else can I do this was the last thing I could do. I came across your site and did what you had mention, if I was going to put forth the energy I want to make sure I did it correct. Later that day I came home and it was like flipping on a light switch night and day. The energy in the house was not heavy the darkness I saw in my son was gone. Even my husband seemed to be better somewhat. I can’t thank you enough for posting this out there it helped my family, I don’t know how often this proc as needs to be done but I will do this every time now I feel a heaviness in my house the holy spiritual feels it now. Hello She Hears and She Hearers! So, I am excited to share with you my story. Just yesterday, as my husband and I were out of the house, my son and daughter in law called me to ask if we had holy oil so that they could pray sprits that my daughter in law said she saw and heard in me and my husband’s room.
Mind you, I was like, “What?” I felt like it was a ploy of the enemy, using them, to be given the “okay” to walk about our home and leave mounds of darkness, in order to change the peaceful balance of our home.
You see, my son is familiar with us praying a covering in our home, because it is what I have done for so long. And when I married my husband, he also participated in the cleansing and anointing of our family and our home.
The difference in what my husband and I do, and they did is the factor of who has the authority to do so and who does not. My son and his wife and sweet baby girls are guests in our home, as they recently asked for help in needing a place to live that exemplifies love and peace. They had been staying with and around her family since they have been married. Making sure our son had little to know communication with anyone but her family. And the problem with that is that her family does not follow Christ.
Okay, to get on with the article and how it refers to this comment. My husband and I came home and asked them and their children to leave for about an hour so that we can properly pray over our home the family.
It felt so good and freeing to uplift the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in our home. It felt good to cleanse and anoint ourselves in the process. To bless and protect every entrance in our home. To rebuke every evil spirit, rebuke every spoken word against our family’s home, income, relationships, guests, our coming and our going. To claim victory over every illness, pain, disease… any and everything that is not a blessing from the Lord.
IT Felt So Good and Freeing to reclaim what God has given to us.
So, I highly recommend doing this on a regular basis. Seeking forgiveness from our own sins against others. Forgiving those who sin against us. And agreeing with our Lord and Savior on the rebuking (emptying) of evil and inviting the Holy Spirit to reside in us and our home. Blessing our coming and going and using us to bless others.

Please pray for me and my family. YES I HAVE EXPERIENCED THESE EVIL SPIRITS. I VAN SEE AND HEAR THEM INY HOME AND PLUS ON MY JOB. OH I AM DO TIRED OF THEM. I ASSUME THEY WERE ALREADY AT MY RESIDENTS WHEN I MOVED IN THE HOUSE. I BELIEVE SO.. I DON’T KNOW WHETHER IT’S A GIFT TO SEE THEM. OH I DON’T LIKE SEEING THEM. ITS TOO MUCH .
I would like to leave a comment in hopes that it left someone else’s spirit and gives them the strength to find God‘s love, and uses his son Jesus Christ to find evil from their home. I recently have prayed over my daughter and anointed her house except one room. She asked me to pray over her house because there were some odd things going on one such as a balloon just floating over to her son, which is one years old with no draft or anything just flying to him. Another example her and her husband have been speaking to an elderly man in a mirror she thought it was OK because he was a nice man. I had explain to her that no spirits in her home were nice. They were all evil. So I prayed with her, making the story shorter, the room that I did not pray in only on the outside was what I prayed because her husband‘s mother is staying in that home and it was her room. She was using sage and it is sinful to use so. We anointed the whole house and windows, but the other day she heard a loud knocking on the door where her room was. It scared her so bad she saw the door wiggling and had asked to pray in that room. I think I should wait until she moved out of that home to pray. I do not know how many evil spirits are in that home do you have a suggestion, but I know that Jesus Christ gave us the authority in his name, to bind them, and cast them away in Jesus name, and I think father and son, and Holy Spirit
We are having problems with a spirit or spirits in our home. I took in a girl same age as my daughter, there had been a lot of drugs, abuse and death in her life. This is things started happening in our home. It also could have followed them from abandoned home they went into. I suspect it is from one of those times. It what ever it is, is watching my daughter in her room. Her chair is getting push and she has scratches that just appear. These things started happening when we brought in my Foster daughter. I wasn’t sure at first but now I am . Something is in our home and it is scaring the animals and my daughter. I have been looking for help & definitely will be looking into this information to clean & clear my home. Thank you for this information.

Thank you so much! This was a reminder of what I’ve had to do in the past for many others as a spiritual counselor. The Lord reminded me as I was meditating to Him and asking why there was such negative in a home after so much prayer, it made no sense. I’d prayed and fasted but still nothing.
I asked Him if there was possibly an evil spirit in the house. He reminded me of rebuking Satan many years ago. I found your website. He confirmed that this was exactly what was needed. My husband is battling the spirit of rage/ hatred which the Bible tells us is the spirit of murder. He also displays a narcissistic personality disorder. Our home has become a place of chaos recently. He started a new job that requires him to do weekly drug tests. He had stoped his marijuana use that he has been addicted to since childhood. Since he has stopped smoking there has been a huge spiritual battle and darkness has made it’s presence very known now that the addiction I has lost it’s grip on my husband. He has suffered a lot of childhood trauma and that is the reason for the heavy marijuana use in the past. I have been praying over the doors of my home and praying for my husband and Gods victory over him that he would remove his heart of stone and give him a heart of flesh and heal wounds from the past. I know God is able and willing. My husband was raised in church and i am excited to see the work of the Lord be upon him and his anointing on his life again so that he can take up his rightful place as the leader of this household and guide his family in the Lord. Thank you for sharing these prayers as I have been weak lately.
I ran into your website last night after awakening to go to the bathroom and seeing the bad spirit in me yet again. The evil presence comes out in my eyes and my face. I speak to it and praise the Lord my Jesus. It stuck with me longer though and made me sick. I was trying to find the answer as to why and how I could better protect me and my house. I know you have to be careful as to where you get your information because I don’t want to do anything to come between me and my Lord. My Husband and I went around our house with the olive oil around all of the windows, doors, and around the property repeating the words you had given. I was at my whits end and it was wearing me out. I know I could be a medium if I wanted to be because I am very sensitive around people and things and pick up on darkness really easy. I have always fought it though, I don’t want any part of that and will not be recruited to do any evil fir Satan or any if his beings. That is not what the Lord wants for me abd I know that. I have never felt so good about doing something and I had a smile on my face the whole time because I could feel the goodness that was spreading and I could also feel the warmth and protection of the Holy Spirit working. What a way to start off on 2025 on the right foot. The place where we live has some things that happened long ago with one of the descendants living next to us that helps glorify the darkness. He is very possessive over the land we live on and I assume his family was the same. I would hate to see what curse has been put here before and what might still be doing today. Thank you do much for being the Lord’s tool and helping others better to protect their families and homes. The Lord led me to you and you have helped lead me to a more peaceful and protected atmosphere to live in.

I suffer from evil spirits attacking the house. My mother and I pray a lot, but there is no result. Please remember me in your prayers.
I have dealt with demons in my home since I married a stranger. His adult daughter always lived with us. The man I married was always watching shows on TV of people seeking the dead, the dark games people play etc. I told him to stop it was inviting them in. When he went to prison, we were not married long, 4 yrs. I wrote him one note and told him he could not come back. When he got out, he came to the house and I would not let him in. I am a Roman Catholic, my Priest said we weren’t even married
Because we didn’t marry in the Catholic Church. He left behind demons that terrorize my dog, and me they sting me, I have had the house blessed by my priest threw out Everything that belonged to him. I see them, and my dog does too, she just whines. And whins. I used the olive oil and did what you suggested. In the morning, I will mark the outside with oil rebuking any evil spirits. I too could see Michael’s eyes black purple black I’ve not spoke to him in 18 months in March and will file for divorce. God Bless each of you girls living for Christ.
